Vengeance

Vengeance

And I’ll get mine in glorified splendour

And you’ll get yours in the torture

Punishment I can’t wait for

As I sit back, all smugness

Praying for the day when the wicked and the weak

Harvest the fruits of their labour

While I will reap my reward

My cup runneth over; for me

And I will get mine in self-sanctimonious

And you will get yours in denial

And I will be saved

And you will not

For heaven awaits all those who are conceived in hell

I have been chosen

And you have not

Yet by blood and life

We walked the same path

For I am righteous, holy and good

And you are so obviously

Not

Colin,..This poem is good,..yet I must confess,..I am no judge,..for there is but one Judge,..Our Grand Creator Jehovah God ! We all fall short of the Glory of God,....and our love for one another will give us the Love From the Great Judge Jehovah,...Love one another and you will be blessed !!!!!! Love, james

The title sums up the feelings conveyed in this poem very well, Colin. We like to believe the good and true of heart will receive their just rewards. The two poems you posted today that I've read are sad and bitter. I can only hope there are better days ahead. This is an excellent, heartfelt poem. Love, Carolyn
