Velvet Teeth

She smiled like sin in silk—
slow, sweet, and sharp beneath.
He kissed her anyway.
Called it love.
She called it
strategy.

Yes, the difference between love and strategy is that strategy is prone to failure, where as Love is infallible Poetess...J.A.B.

That’s a powerful distinction, Justin--strategy may falter, but love holds its ground. This one was all about that dangerous blur between the two. Thank you for catching the bite beneath the silk.

I'm in a bind here. So much in the world, is people just seeing what they can get. True care is rare. Even less, true love.

I feel that so deeply, Paige. This poem came from that exact place--how hard it is to trust what’s real when so much feels transactional. Thank you for sharing your heart here. It means a lot.
