Velocity

How fast love may fly and blindingly seize The day by the tail and shake and stir The pan-handled embers of ashen unease Spontaneous ignition released in a blur. Velocity burning, shedding it's flame Through channels of ocean and plateaus of land, Folds in on itself, reforms once again, Sonic and yearning and begging my hand. I reach out to touch it, to gather it near, But ghosts of your image are too swift to die, Dissolving and melting, a drab atmosphere Settles on me as my eyes liquefy. The tracks of the tears in serpentine haste Shed downhill to nowhere in vanishing streams, Velocity craving the vision and taste Of flesh in the distance, the substance of dreams.
