Veil In Qur'An Sonnet

Dear Reader,
I have studied the Qur'an and it says in 24:31 "And they should wear veils over their bosoms, and not display their ornaments openly", family or relatives being the exception to the rule. (Fred Leemhuis edition.) Feminists in Iran who do not want a burka refer to this verse. A bikini is obligatory, nude beach is forbidden. But the imam doesn't want to know anything about the bikini, he wants a burkini, and he tells me: "To hell with the bikini and wear a veil from the top of your head till over your bosom." The imam adds till "(till) over the bosom". The Qur'an itself only says: "Over the bosom, and underpants/ briefs over your ornament". I do think as an orthodox living by the letter of the scripture one should say: long live the bikini. Kind regards Yoram

Oh these lovely ornaments, please
Cover them and those tender boobs
An inspiration to the military troops
Covered earthshakingly they may tease

With Bikini the atoll, the isle
The burkini exegesis
Just about Haram as thesis
It is not a holy style

And be gentle to her
Should you loathe her beauty
God might appreciate her booty

And put a lot of good in that which
You do not like. Please do not ditch
Qur'an 4:19 to which I do refer

And be gentle towards her. And when you loathe her, you might not like something in which God has put a mighty lot of good. Qur'an 4:19
