Vanity and the Wise
Vanity offered the wise eternal glory among men
But
He emphatically declined.
Surprised,
Vanity inquired about the reason for his rejection
Which he gave her without much delay:
“Eternal glory among men is something non-existent
for
fleeting the men's world is and fleeting will remain,
no matter how many more millennia, men manage on this
planet to stay.
Moreover,
another reason for my refusal, I will give you, and this you
should keep very well in Mind,
the glory that my soul seeks, you will never be able to offer
for
to the heaven it belongs and only, the heaven can provide!"
