Vanessa

Vanessa

Long after sleep has captured your body
And dreams, like butterflies, float above your head
I sneak into your bedroom,
rest my head on your pillow
To inhale the sweet fragrance
The aroma that is YOU!

You smell of fall wind
which tangles your braids.
Tangy orange and lime
still lingers on your breath.
The nape of your neck-
I think "new-born puppies"
And your hands are vanilla
like your favorite soap.

That scent- so complex, so unique yet
so yours
captivates my senses and encodes in my brain.

You talk in your sleep
and all of a sudden
I get a rare glimpse
Inside one of your dreams.

Ewelina now this is stunning, the imagery here is wonderful, if I were to change anything I would say your fist two stanzas are perfect but the next three lines should be re-formatted to make them the same length and then combined with the last four then visually it would look better and read and flow better, but it is still excellent, thanks for reading my poem I have only just deleted over 1000 poems here to make start afresh....David

Thank you for your constructive comments. It means a lot to me especially since I have no knowledge or training in the art of poetry writing. I use only my intuition and of course my emotions. I appreciate your encouragement.

Thank you everybody for your welcome, your comments and encouragement. I wrote this poem when my daughter was a toddler and never meant for anyone to read it, besides her.
