Valuable Asset Or Economic Liability

When we come out of lockdown, Will we invite the old uptown? To fit them for a crown, Or send them downtown For someone to put them down. Will we look to them to make the economy stable? Or pass the baton to those less able, Will we be lining up to sit at their table? Or kicking them out to the stable. Will we seek their wisdom? Or facilitate their doom, So, we can take over their room, And pull down the shades on our own gloom. My hope is that we listen to economists, Who may not be sentimentalists, Yet can recognise valuable assets, And those who they would like to cross off their lists.
