Notes About The Poem

Valentino’s Past Life

He meowed once, lost his jersey “r,”
“La-guad-ee-ah,” says; so far
from normal and his, “house shoes.”
It’s “slippers,” past life breakthroughs.
The bizarre O language of love, thus far.

In New Jersey, the accent usually doesn’t sound out the “r” in words. My husband only does this for the airport “LaGuardia.” LOL
