Utopia
[Note: Nought (English) = Naught (American English)]
_____________
How can one have a phobia of this newfound utopia
Where all there is is as it ought to be
We left behind dystopia and found a cornucopia
And all of it was absolutely free
Man could never make it but neither could he fake it
It always seemed to be just out of reach
But then they said we’ll make it, we’ll fly on up and take it
We now have all we covet and beseech
In this new world of plenty there’s no reason to stand sentry
For only humankind would dare invade
But man has self bestowed this globe already, evidently
We’re told the best decision ever made
Here no work, no need of wage, we’re cats that have the cream
No turmoil, toil or need to be displeased
Utopia, the dream where there is nought to make us scream
Was sitting here just waiting to be seized
No fear for children out till late while we debate their fate
No global warming, famine, drought or freeze
No worry that we paid our tax beyond the final date
Nought to be irate about, no violence and no sleaze
So now we watch the clock tick tock, tick tock, tick tock, tick tock
No reason to get out of bed today
This perfect damned utopia, this perfect deep space rock
I’ll leave it thanks, I trust that that’s okay
