Upon Watching the Rails Fall

Sitting here watching the rails fall There are too many that are so tall It maybe for the best that the young riders stay at the mall Since there is no law for fences to be as big as a wall I asked the Captain Why is this happening We don’t know he replied It was the decision of the course designer guy With time before I show I will ask how many leads I need to complete these show jumping deeds. “One, two, three or four,” may get you a good score he said in a voice that stated it is your choice. Thanks a lot, I did cry getting ready to give it a try I will go later in the round you see And I will watch others to figure out the key Halfway through the order I marked things down like I was a reporter How the fences fall I thought going back to the stall “If the fences win will I have to contact my next of kin?” Was a question asked before taking on this dreadful task. There was a cheer which meant someone went clear. But there was one small problem the bloody clock got them. One-time fault and you are caught I did say Knowing it would be me who soon would be on display Starting to sound like the winner would come later in the round I had nothing to fear Since my horse and I would go clear. Time to go to the in gate with my faithful equine mate To see if we can win and celebrate with a tonic filled with gin With a large smooth circle, I agreed to take the test And hopefully in the end I will be the best Headed to the first line which I handled easily with the secret of being kind. Oxer, combinations and a water jump did follow And my horse took everything without a bother Here it comes to an end and unlike hunters my position I do not have to defend. Over and easy was the shot and made it through not needing to worry about the nasty clock. Strutting back to the makeshift barn I now had a story to yarn. It was only me without any faults and I went home with a blue ribbon that was won not bought. As night fell and everyone was contacted who I wanted to tell It was time to get ready for next week and another chance to take on this show jumping feat. It will be at another show with a different order of go. Chances are I will be early to the bar Since I won’t go clear Yet have a nice cold beer This is all suppose to be fun And when it is done A feeling of peace will come Even know I might not have won.
