Upon Watching Children In a Tireswing
Two small people crammed together
In a rubber shell. Little bodies overlapping,
Youthful voices blend with laughing,
Friendship tangled on a heavy string...
A magical union of spirt
in the circle of the TireSwing.
The TireSwing has been replaced, its unbroken
width symbolized instead with golden rings
We placed upon each other's hands.
What was it that we left behind,
What simple trust and heart-felt sharing
Slipped away in intervening years.
A Single Circle became Two
And Two became a Single Trap,
Separating even as it binds....splintering
what should have been a single mind.
Could you but touch my hand, make one more spot of time,
Could we yet reach beyond the hurt...Remembering
A childish kiss, a dream we shared
In the circle of the TireSwing.
