Upon This Rock I Will Build My Church Matthew 16:18

"And I say also to you, that you are Peter and upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Matthew 16:18*** First of Jesus is referring to this rock, which is based upon Peter's profession of faith. But actually who is the rock? Nebuchadnezzar was King of Babylon and lasted from 6047 BC and 56i7 BC . This pagan king had a dream about the statue of a man. In the days of the ten toes mixed with iron and clay, a gigantic rock struck the statue at his base. Resulting in the complete destruction not only of the statue but also the kingdoms of mankind. Jesus Christ, also referred to Himself, as the chief cornerstone. The builders who rejected Him were: the rulers, the scribes and the teachers of His day! And most of them rejected him. But, in order to secure a firm and lasting foundation, we have to accept Him as the basis and foundation of our faith in Him. The gates of hell, or the kingdom of hell, where Satan rules. He cannot stand against the chief cornerstone of his adversary. Jesus rules! Churches may rise and denominations may fall throughout the centuries of mankind. But the rock of ages, Jesus Christ, will let us hide ourselves in Him. The Catholics have chosen Peter to be their very first Pope. They honestly believe that Jesus Christ based His foundation of His church upon a man. When he based his church was upon Peter's profession of faith about who He was, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Only God his Father could reveal the truth about Jesus to Peter. The word Peter means a stone. It is true that Jesus Christ not only used Peter, but the rest of the disciples as well. With of course the notable exception of Judas, whose name shall live forever in infamy. Jesus Christ is the rock and the chief cornerstone's foundation of the Christian faith. And our church and body of Christ can have no firmer a foundation than him. "The church's one foundation is Jesus Christ our Lord". "Christ is the solid rock I stand all other ground is stinking sand." The wise man builds his house upon a rock which can with stand the stormy weather. The foolish man builds his house upon the sand, and has no firm foundation in itself! Thus great is the fall of that house! " Rock of ages cliff for me, let me hide myself in thee." Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, tomorrow and forever more. A-Men Love in Christ Jesus! Roxanne Lea Dubarry Roxy Lea 1954 Roxy 1954/ October Country January 11, 2021
