Upon Sleep

And as the world closes its eyes
Falling into the quiet of a dream
Wind flashing its reverence against his brow
The chill of the Earth stumbles towards the flashing spring

And as the song of the birds drifts past the darkness of time
The clouds masked by the blackened sky
My heart but a beat to love's pure rhyme
Fueling towards the morning light of his stardust eyes

And while he dreams allow me one delight
That I whisper promises of everlasting sight
A world filled with colors and motion
Fueled by the inspiration of love's everlasting devotion

And when he wakes to the rays of the sun
His heart beating in time to my own
As our souls arise from the lands of afar
He and I - simply just are.

"He and I - simply just are" Such a beautiful ending to a wonderfully written poem. The is so much to read and feel in this piece, but most of all, it is love...pure and simple. Really nicely done
