Notes About The Poem

- Up In Flames -

A silence without words
no rhyme or verse
The mesmerizing power of the voice
through lyric and lullaby
The feeling that stings in the stomach
White paper and black ink are
engulfed by the flames
Thoughts, sorrow and joy
while, hands resting calmly in the lap
The good dreams are shattered

My soul is crumbling in grief
Like a restless and hungry animal 
isolated, unbalanced and lost
Influenced by the words,
the weeping lump begins to grow in the throat
The eyes are red and swollen  ... a fiery blow
But I know ... someday
everything will start over again

Those who remain on stage, are left in a meditative state
Away from the light of the morning and rainbow color spectrum
The brain never stops being thirsty ... with wonder and surprise
Give us some nourishment ... for dreams and the imagination
Room for humor - room for seriousness ... I love poetry

Even in silent moments, a melody lingers within. Paper and ink aren't needed- Poetry can create a life all on its own.
