Unwavering
This is the first draft. I just spent about an hour writing it so it may need some revision, but I hope you like it:
I took a swing at Death today
For he took a swing at me;
He tried to take my life away,
But I did not agree
To let him simply take it;
To give it up so willingly
Or take the easy road and quit
To finally be free.
I stood my ground and held it dear,
Would not supplicate or plea,
And clutched this life with Death so near
So that he may now see
That I will fight him tooth and nail;
Unwavering, I will not flee
Or shy away and choose to fail
The life inside of me.
