Unwanted

Late at night, you can hear your parents fight, as drunk as they were when you were conceived. And they argue about your birth all night, for you were not planned, and each feels deceived. Your father says you're useless and don't try, while your mother only wants to lay blame. And you seldom lack a reason to cry, feeling dejected and burdened by shame. When you line up to get picked for a team, you are always the last person that's left. And it hurts so much; that you want to scream, embarrassed that you're clumsy; not so deft. Though you try to persevere undaunted, you know how it feels; to be unwanted. (Sonnet) 11/3/2015

Children ARE so often the Scapegoat for their parents problems and made to feel to blame. From this, they get that low self-esteem and everything is rather downhill from there. This did an excellent job in conveying that feeling of being adopted by ones own parents. The story telling is precise and to do as a Sonnet was no small feat! Good one Emile!

It's quite a sad contest, and you have portrayed this exceptionally well. A clever look at being unwanted through a childs' eyes
