UNTIL THEN
UNTIL THEN
It’s no desire nor decision of mine
There are reasons I must leave you
You, my beloved, soon to be wife
This village, this country, this life
I’ll keep that love strong and true
Growing like any everlasting vine
Sentenced unfairly for that crime
To be sent away to distant shores
My innocence was never believed
The real culprit must be relieved
And oblivious to pain he’d cause
But now I have to serve my time
Perhaps years, I cannot tell when
But one day I promise I’ll return
Free of shackles in a foreign land
My pain I know you understand
I’ll hope all offers you will spurn
And keep faith in me, until then
