Until Then

When her smiles are no longer real And she laughs only now and then If every thought is now kept sealed Hold her until she feels again When memories only bring tears And joy's lost in "remember when" In the darkness quiet her fears Hold her until she feels again A heart scarred and of love bereft Empty voids her only spokesmen When she says numb is all that's left Hold her until she feels again 05/12/2018

The feeling captured and well-expressed, FJ. Although it was Dr. Manette, to whom this applied, Lucy being his comforter, this did remind me of their relationship in Dickens' classic work, "Tale of Two Cities." :) gw

What patience and love it must take to endure one who is unfeeling and have hope to revive them back to life through love. This poem touched me. I love the refrain.

I'm happy it touched you Juliet :) In many cases it is the person/people around them who have made them that way. So whether they've changed and try and fix what they've broken or whether the other person tries to fix themselves it's good either way :)
