When birds disappear it means that there is something wrong with the environment! Hope that a change of weather will tempt them to come back. ~ Regards // paul

Very true. I have been birding for 20 years now, the decline has been dramatic. Today however I saw hundreds of swallows feeding over the river, it's been years, so I am beaming, and hopeful. Warm poetry hugs! xomo

Our backyard is animal entertainment we have blue birds, blue Jays, Robins, Cardinals, The Hawks can't get anything for the ravens always harassing them. And we watch the vultures do there thing too. with the deer and rabbits you could sit and watch and the only thing missing is a Narater.

Poor birdless branches - maybe they're staying inside for quarantine too...

I have all those in and around my yard too; the year round city residents, it's all the migratories that are missing, the woods were freakishly quiet.

Not true as "a little bird" always lets mothers know what is going on . . . . . Aloha! Rico

In Hawai'i, most of the endemic birds are extinct because people insist upon feeding the pigeons and doves which spend their day multiplying and replenishing the earth with more pigeons and doves quickly crowding out other species. Government will take no action because politicians like votes, and people like feeding pigeons and doves. Be happy you don't live where pigeons, doves, seagulls, etc., are dive-bombing poop in your hair! Aloha! Rico

~thank you my friend. I am an optimist by nature. I have been birding for 20 years now. I know what I am missing. <3

I went for a walk in the sugarbush today; mused that the giant stump was the mother, admiring all the tender baby trees. Rico, not a single bird in the woods. Not even a resident woodpecker. Nothing. I ache.
