Notes About The Poem

UNSPOOLING

Just one thread loosens its hold~
one worry tugging the next,
the weave thinning quietly,
slowly fraying.

I try mending it,
but my fingers tremble,
and the tear only deepens.
More than the cloth unravels~
the fabric of my being unspools.

I know that feeling only too well. But going with your metaphor, as a kid I wanted torn jeans so much and forgot what clothing and cover is all about. Kid wishes, Kai

I follow you loud and clear, Sara --- all the way to land of broken promises and dead-end trails. Evocative and provocative write, methinks. ~ Gershon

Enjoyed! A thread to follow to its mysterious end…a brink perhaps to be woven into a beautiful cloth.
