A kind of acrostic sonnet kind of thingy

intended for Armistice Day... a little overdue

Unsigned: the bullet that entered my chest No sender’s name and no sender’s address So be this my lot then I shall find peace In knowing I died a hero at least Go now my brothers and crush this assault No man that dies here shall have died for naught Each man who falls while still holding his gun Dies for the freedom of all and of one Bring woe to those who would snatch us from Earth Under these skies that shall witness our worth Linger a while should you face your life’s end Lest you may rise up to bear arms again * Even ’pon seventy years here I stand To honour the brave who fought for our land

Wonderful tribute Terry, no matter the date. It is apropos at any time for our fallen, former, and serving, soldiers. :)

A wonderful tribute to those who fell and those who still stand to remember their sacrifices. Bless you, Terry.

The humble bullet is neither friend nor foe, I often wonder did the workers who manufactured it give a thought that it might be used to kill someone. But we owe our fallen veterans so much, but for them who knows what we'd be living under. Tom

a poignant acrostic, Terry. Most of the survivors are dead now and we owed them all a debt we could not pay. Great write!

a powerful Accrostic, Terry. It grabbed my attention from the get go. The first verse resonated with me as did the last two lines. A great poem honoring those who took an unsigned bullet for our country. Have a great evening, Sara

I had no idea if anyone would get this, Sara, but I’ve always felt a man should never die without knowing who fired the shot and whether he was wearing a frown or a smirk. Maybe I’m just weird ;-)
