Unrequited Love

I wish I had some magical dust to sprinkle in your eyes So you can see who I really am rather than my masked disguise By the wave a wand or the chant of a spell to turn your attention to me Instead of all those “pretty” girls who will never let you be I would say the spell so sweetly to make me your desired one Though as nothing lasts forever the spell falls just like the sun Again the words I wished and longed for vanish with the day And the dream of being with you suddenly fades away The love I wished for is gone along with all its wondrous desire I feel like all I did for us was make a bigger fire And though my love did make you grow, you turn away from me To look at the one you really love when you know it will never be Because we always want what we can’t have, and it continues on from there Of all those lovers who stay unloved and the effects of love’s despair While I’m close to going insane with wanting you, I know I must let go Because loving someone who loves another is not the way to go By: Beverly Hurd

You say so many wonderful and beautiful things in this poem, I think rhyming takes away from the full emotional impact. I did enjoy reading it, but I think that if you forgot about rhyming, this would be a tear jerker and a powerful statement
