Unmended

That hurt little boy, sad way down deep
Survives trapped in that aging body
Enigmatic and misunderstood

What happened to you throughout the years
Never accepted for who you were
Always extra cautious, playing games

Seeking approval that never came
Feeling so alone and neglected
Odd, different, always rejected

Uncomfortable in your own skin
Not understanding why you’re different
Catapulted in some foreign world

Growing up was so very brutal
Unlike bullies, friends were mighty scarce
Bruised heart, broken and never mended

Years went by without making allies
Perpetually against the grain
Eventually finding a niche

You were only too glad to pay dues
But paid and paid until betrayed

A lovely verse but tinged with sadness, how often we hear of it, There are millions in our world but many are isolated for one reason or another. Good luck. Tom. PS. Your haiku's are amazing.
