Unloved

UNLOVED

She longed to be treated as a partner should be
Loved, appreciated, valued, respected, supported and cared for
Sadly, she can't remember feeling those things
Oblivious to her needs, the man whose name she took,
now takes her for granted
She feels manipulated, chastised, insignificant and unloved
Day by day nothing changes
They reside under the same roof, but are worlds apart
He is always there, but never present
She is always there, but never a priority
He never asks how her day was,
if there's anything he could do for her, or what she needs
Oh there are lots of things!
She wants to be held and kissed, told she is beautiful and missed
And to be treated as a woman should be
But instead, every harsh word beats her down
Crushing her spirit, breaking her
until darkness settles in
and steals her light
She withdraws
And wishes that someone
would just love her the way
she deserves
to be loved
