Unheard

it's like a singer
performing on stage
without vocal chords
his words fall
hushed in silence
like a deafness
upon ears
that hear

Reminds me of trying to scream in a dream, but no sound comes out. This is a more creative way of expressing it and gives meaning on a new level because the ears can hear, but no sound comes out.

Thank you Juliet...it does have that feel to it...i often wonder at those moments or trying to scream in the dream and not being able to get the scream out if the scream actually is released and if anyone can hear it? i used to sleep walk and talk as if awake when i was a little girl...i don't as an adult though... you made me ponder more thought... hugs

Hi Sandy, I guess life is so fast that we try to keep up with every thing, sometimes I fall behind, but always endeavor to catch up - this poem is special, as you are my friend. Blessings, Jennifer.

Thank you Jennifer...it wasn't about me...it sparked from a conversation with someone... we all have little time to spread between the things we love and the things we need to do...i work and rarely have time to visit everyone in one day... hugs and blessings :)

Lovely. I watched a clown.. a great clown at a small circus of abut 600 people...that said NOTHING... and got the whole tent rolling, laughing, singing...and dancing from their seats... without the use of a word or note. It was magic. As my son can not speak well, and I was elated... at the miracle in front of me. Love your poem. Ann

Thank you...i saw a clown on tv that didn't speak i think he was called the sad clown but he sang... so cool that he could get through to those that can't speak... sometimes silence can speak in great volumes...especially to the heart :) hugs

If I had a dime for every time I thought I was unheard.....I would have a brand new car, and paid for! I like this!

Your brief but beautiful poem paints a dark picture of what feels to me to be a description of loneliness. At least that is how it reads to me. Wonderfully done Sandy.

I guess it’s sort of a loneliness when muses we are used to reading go missing and all we see is the silence that falls from unspoken words ... hugs
