Notes About The Poem

Unhappiness

Depression's distant cousin
invited to stay awhile.
Clouds of gray block the sunshine,
smothering its rays

I have known depressed people. My husband is one. Some of them truly need medicine to help control this problem they have. It makes me so happy not to be prone to depression. However, having chronic pain in one's life, which is not able to be controlled, can bring a suffering that is hard to overcome. I have learned from exerience to have compassion for such people. Good poem, Edward.

Thank you very much for the visit and feedback, Andrea:-) I'm sorry your hubby is struggling with depression, or was? I hope his is under control. I feel you about chronic pain as I suffer from back pain from time to time. Painkillers usually work like a charm.
