Unforgiving
like unceasing wildfires
raging out of control.
Unforgiving
like a ferocious avalanche
engulfing everything in its path.
Unforgiving
like a wind-blown blizzard
in bone-chilling winter.
She turns a deaf ear
to his entreaties
for forgiveness.
The death knell
has sounded
on their union.
Wronged
just once;
once was enough.

Sometimes that’s all it takes. I know of a faithful marriage many years in the making. He stepped out once and got the lady pregnant...goodbye, Charlie!
