Unfathomable Depths

Into the heart of the abyss I drown my thoughts. Into the fog and cold they wander aimlessly, lurking into the vastness of unfathomable depths. I see the intensity of your pain wrought from the deeds of men like me hounded by sin, covered in shame. I see you suffer immensely not by the lashings that rip off your flesh But by my faults that pain you greatly. I see you stumble bearing that wooden beam the wrongs of men weigh heavily upon you as you struggle up to fulfill the fate you’ve seen Trudging slowly, painstaking step after step driven by the heartbeat of men, their chorus of lies, the troubles they beget I see you shudder as jagged nails pierce your hands the way we thrust a sword into another man’s heart with rage and hate as they fall where they stand Upon your cross you chose to forgive me even in the face of death, you still cared You truly love me, unconditionally. My soul I lift unto the light of a dove Into forgiveness and peace I am sheltered Saved by the vast and unfathomable depths of your love.
