Unfamiliar Line

 Words have meaning to impart,
When "she reassured me with an unfamiliar line"
I knew that soon our hearts would part
As words show the heart's incline

Sometimes you have to read between the lines
 To discern what's being said
 Then you'll see the sign
and the deceit you're being fed

As the sun begins to set
 Memories flash across my mind
 Her words do linger yet
With echoes of her unfamiliar line

We must use caution, interpreting words through our pride, as looking between the lines is essential. Thank you for my excellent placement in your last contest, Joseph

Wouldn't it be great if people said what the meant and meant what they said? Imagine a world minus mountains of word trash. A good poem on the topic, I enjoyed taking it in ... CayCay

Reading between the lines is important but one must be careful not to interpret meanings to satisfy our ego.
