my apologies shared my honest opinions since you asked for them wanting my affirmation and not expecting the truth

Hi L, Milton, I welcome constructive criticism. One doesn't know everything. As long it's down in a respectful way. Tearing down a person and their art isn't constructive criticism; it's mean and disrespectful. If one is going to say something mean and spiteful, they shouldn't say it. I really enjoyed your poem. I like your poetry, by the way. Have a great day and weekend:-)Alexis

What you have said is sooooo true, Alexis. PS is certainly no place for mean and disrespectful discourse, period. We have a few bullies on here, but there just isn't much we can do about that. They love being bullies, so they won't go away quietly.

I read the rationale behind this truthful tanka below to Jan, I don’t bother with affirmations, unless I mean it, it’s nice to encourage a poet, but some are pretty touchy and angry, myself I think there’s nothing better than a bit of constructive critique, cheers David

I think Jan is right on target, David. Thanks for your thoughts, too. I've had my feelings hurt, but I just keep going. I think it's fairly easy to be perfectly innocent and touch a raw nerve. Best to just be positive, affirmative, and helpful. I try to acknowledge everything I read, and I certainly say thank you to every comment I receive. I feel its the courteous thing to do.

I;ve seen poets leave because they have had their poem torn apart, there is a forum for constructive criticism, i much prefer to leave a positive comment and soup mail if I spot a typo

I like the poetry and the spirit of apologies, but honestly, I believe criticism is here to assist, even if it's a critique; no one is flawless, and it's always good to hear other people's perspectives. Always be magnificent and let the train run.

Good thinking, Lasaad, and, let's face it, you are so much more mature than some of our writers!

I agree wholeheartedly, Jan. You know from my poetry where I'm coming from. I try never to offer any critique unless it is specifically asked for, but, then I tell the truth....Recently, I told a poet that she sounded like she was angry. I meant absolutely nothing unkind about it, it was just an observation, and she suddenly cut off commenting from me. In my opinion that's pretty thin-skinned. I still read her poetry, and she still sounds like she's angry with most poets here on P.S. Incidentally, I love your work! You write good stuff, and I enjoy reading it. I never pass up a Jan poem!
