Unending Folly

Tick tock, tick tock,
 strikes the old clock.

Boom, boom, boom!
 roar the sounds of cannons.

Roll, humanity's ship, roll,
cast your net, drag the troll.

Unending curse of history
 marches to the same folly.

Tick tock, tick tock,
 strikes the old clock.

Boom, boom, boom!
 roar the sounds of cannons.

Time slips away, drifting by,
 same ending, innocents die!

The clouds are gathering as they have since the beginning of time and whenever the end comes we can all have our happily ever after moment ... LOL ... maybe the clock goes "boom" .... smile ...

When will they ever learn (Kingston Trio). Money, power, greed. We the people are expendable. They live without accountability or conscience. We need street justice. Oh, Fred, by the way. When I sold my 56 chevy before leaving for the Navy, The back seat had more wear and tear than the front. I use to park it more than drive it. Low miles, needs shocks. Gotta love it. Vince

Well, there is a truthful and depressing poem. Makes me very sad and extremely upset. I don't get it. Why do we do this to ourselves over and over again? Well done Wilfredo. Love, Shar

there'll always be trolls! There'll always be ogres who'll crash humanity's ship against the crushing rocks of history! The spectre of war will never go away! a timely theme for an apt and well written poem.

Yes, good old silly time, casting its end of time into everything! Life's a you know what, and then you die. Gotta love the optimism there! Great poem, Fred, I loved it. Kristin

I reckon so - very deep poem - It is rather sad that with all of our intelligence we can't seem to stop killing each other needlessly - Think how wonderful the world would be if we spent the money on healing that we do on killing - God Bless
