Unease

Many things can cause unease:
Heights, the dark, loud noises, fleas;
Crowded places, public speaking,
Rocking chairs that won’t stop squeaking.

Body odor, traffic, roaches;
Birthdays as old age approaches.
Vampire movies, tunnels, rats;
Caves with tons of flying bats.

Spiders, lightning, doctors, death;
Elevators, garlic breath.
Fire, bedbugs, snakes and worms;
Subways, strangers, germs, germs, germs!

Clowns, exams, a first-time date;
Flying, swimming, gaining weight.
Airport scanners, roller coasters;
Bridges, missing children posters.

Each of us becomes obsessed
With what it takes to make us stressed.
What’s strange is that my bugaboo
Most likely will not bother you!

You are so right, one person's unease may seem trivial to another person but they are all unease. Congrats on your win!

It's true....we all react differently, and different things may make us uncomfortable! Loved your poem!!

I remember this one and its homespun charm. Just love your style. You are kind of like the Erma bombeck of poetry for me! Congrats on your win, Ilene

Ilene. This is a GREAT poem. I think there is one unease that everyone can agree on: it's the kind when the jews were hiding out from Nazis. AS I was writing my poem, I realized there could be no unease greater than that one, but I had to just speak from my own knowledge of unease and mine is bad enough! I love the light style of yours. It is the type I usually do myself. Love this.
