Undertow

The holidays engulfed me
Sorrows of years past
Trapped me in depression
It's quicksand holding me under
Just trying to survive this descent.

Into darkness and madness
Struggling to awaken this dream
Distant reminders now alive within
The fleeting memories rush inside
Gruesome details vividly appear.

Long since gone, loved ones passed
Heartache choking my life
This season pulling me beneath
Pushing out all rays of light
Looking for a lifeline.

Just trying to sit and write.
