Understanding Us Like Us

Understanding Us like Us The failing pendulum Prevents the gravity of its swing Momentum Weighted to the stretching hours The loneliness pounds But the smile ever ready Turns its puppetry of normality And jerks the strings In the corners of eyes To pupil vacancy asking why Why Do you know me Turn me back from the ripples Spreading dissipation's of indefinite endings You see my shadow And nothing more You hear my voice Do not pay attention to the words All emotion conversed in ashes The time stretches Out But the ever ready smile Turns its normality of puppetry The jerking strings of despondency Hangs lifeless In the corners of eyes Speaking with pupil vacancy Why Do you know me Do you know me Where I lay hidden In an out-rush broken Navigating scars With a un-tuned compass of hope Have you seen me there; in the rages of burrows In fearful attempts to pick a lock Promising escape Break loose from the molasses thick misunderstanding Stares The void The fractured space between us Its isolation condemned Its pitiful wail Heard only in the recesses of darkness But ever ready the smile Puppetry turn of its normality A masquerade so practiced carefully To disguise the sorrow And hide behind my pupils vacancy Asking why Why Do you know me

So much painful emotion is brought forward from my own past as I read this beautiful work of art. You touched my soul today. I can always count on you to grasp my heart as well as my attention with your words. It is true that no one truly knows all there is to know about us, each person lives with shadows of darkness within them that they may never share fully with another. There is only one besides ourselves that truly knows all there is to know about us, God. Great writing. Smiles from Lolita

You wrote childhood in your adjective category, and I am sorry for what you may have suffered. Truth is, many adults can relate to this in the now. Putting on the mask, don't we all do it so often? Who knows what is there. No one knows me. This really gets to me, such excellent writing. Thanks about the Silmarillion - the one I never read. Should I? Love, Shar

A room full of people, even your best friends and nobody knows. Been there. You scream in silence, invisible.
