Understanding

No-one notices your sadness
No-one cares about your tears
They don't understand your feelings
They will never understand your tears

Only you know how I feel
And the things I've had to endure
People say they understand
But how can you be sure?

We all have our own cross to bear
And a burden is the last thing we want to be
We try to hide our true feelings
We keep them inside so no-one can see

All we ask for is a friendly ear
And a bit of understanding
But some people we've helped in the past
Think we're just being demanding

You've always been there for them
But they're never there for you
When you ask them for their help
They have better things to do

Be careful who you trust
Because not everyone is your friend
If you don't choose acquaintances wisely
You'll learn by your mistakes in the end

Find someone who notices your sadness
And wipes away your tears
They'll understand your feelings
And will be able to allay your tears

We all need that special someone
But they can take a lifetime to find
Someone who is your destiny
In perfect harmony with heart, body and mind

So true, Jenny. Really nice poem. I have many stab wounds in my back from untrustworthy "friends". I have a dog now. He is faithful and caring:)
