Understanding
UNDERSTANDING
‘Twas once,
That the wisdom of a knowledgeable man,
Who hieroglyphics scribed
On tablets stone,
Giving a new meaning
Of being able to walk,
With stone in shoe
That for another brother
Would give to hurt?
And the price to learn,
And the price being taught,
Which for easier understanding
Of another person
That when they walk
In another’s shoes,
Of what was once
Is now replaced
By the sandals constructed
By thoughtfulness
Replacing
Ignorance to another’s needs,
So that person’s progression
Into understanding,
Abruptly halted forth
When tripped up on flattened face
By forgotten untied lace,
And from the book of life’s lesson taught
For now they have
A new awareness,
A better understanding,
Of their fellowman
That when caught in a situation
Can be embarrassing to self worth.
