Understanding
God
Gives us understanding
That we might discover him
Memory that we will think of him
Strong will to follow him
Discernment to understand his parables
Tender hearts to feel his mercies
Insight to behold his miracles
And courage to praise him
Oh God
What was I thinking when I forgot you
Was my heart so full I could not love you
Why have I chosen not to follow you
I have not marvelled at your miracles
Is my heart so hard that I do not show mercy
Why can I not see all that God has done
And why haven't I told everyone I see
That God gives us everything
To simply love him
