Notes About The Poem

Undergrowth With Two Figures, Van Gogh

I can’t see the forest for the trees
If I look up what color leaves will I see
I look down and see grass so green
And little wild flowers so much like me

There in the distance is a woman a man
Were they kissing or holding hands
Is he from the church giving praying hands
Or other word of the war and husband

I saw that praying hand too…and the unique “wild flowers like me.” You are a joy to behold, Karen!
