Under the Moon
In moonlight
I hear the crashing surf
I see some planets and some stars
But mostly the moon
And the shadows
Long and stretched
Distorted like my feelings
The moon is bright tonight
And the sand is like snow in the sun
With shadows
Where my thoughts are
Little cups of shadow
Where the fleas hide
And yet, there are many who feel the need to use a flashlight
In bright moonlight!
By the crashing surf
These people I don't understand
The sea is a glowing skin
Mottled throughout with bright white caps
Little cups of white
Under the moon tonight
No place for the likes of us!
One by one the lights of our little camp go out as the moon shines out its heart
And finally sets
Giving way to the stars
