Unconditional

If I stand still long enough
Like a poet tree green tough
As does wind will you blow
Away my sins inspire hope
Will you tell me teal truth
How beautiful I am in youth
And when my trunk gets thick
Will you still love and care for it
Will you stand when I can’t bend
As a tree lacking flexible limb and
Will you still stay by my side
When winter comes chilling night
When I’m old and devoid of leaves
Will you still have love for me

Surely this made potd, if not here, then somewhere in the world. I admit, I struggle with the lack of punctuation, but your writes are worth it. This touched my heart with its sentiment and beauty. You took the age-old question -'will you love me when ... ' and gave it fresh imagery.

Golly Gee Whiz, Karen: Do you have to make old age sound so awful? .... After all, your partner won't exactly be fit and flexible either. Unless he's a vain movie star or something... Myself, I find genuine grace in the act of slowing down and defying time... Here's to a few wrinkles, discolorations, a belly sag -- AND a regal countenance!! ~ King for the Duration

Ah the ending here, how evocative and touching dear beautiful soul karen, sometimes we wonder that, if at all when everything is overwhelming or when we are old and difficult will they stay, love us still! Your use of alliteration and also wordplay here is so very you! If ever i see “ teal truth” anywhere i would know its inspired by you! Cus thats now your thing! Pleasure reading. Sending you light always
