Uncommon Sense

I wish I were an educated woman
But sadly, I am not.
I have to rely on common sense
As much as I have got
You don't have to write a thesis
Or a Shakespeare play
You have to think carefully
And be straightforward with what you say.
Some educated scholars,
Are a credit to their craft
Unfortunately, others lack common sense,
They're daft.
It is essential to have both these two,
But I am only an uneducated woman
With a common sense point of view.

and i agree wholeheartedly....common sense is not common enough, as George Bernard Shaw said..."a fool's brain digests philosophy into folly, science into superstition, and art into pedantry hence a university education" we autodidacts despise them...loved the poem, such wonderous simple depths that are simply illuminating...with an honest voice in every line....truly the salt of the earth

A degree from the 'School of Hard Knocks' is worth five times as much as a PhD from Harvard, I assure you. Best two bosses/mentors I ever had in business were non-degreed: One came up through the military; the other, a 'carny (carnival) kid.' And I've also had some real loser bosses, one especially. Gershon....dated a woman whose father was the Dept. Head of the business school so I attended functions with the rest of the Dept. Heads and I used to leave wondering....who in God's name ties their shoes in the morning...this is why the Lenin-Bolsheviks (dictatorship by the educated) failed one collective fiasco after another because it worked in the book
