Uncertain

A slow procession through the grass
Fractures leaden hearts.
A sound breaks out like shattered glass,
Ripping souls apart.

Though never a word is spoken,
Ominous despair
Hovers over hearts, all broken -
Sorrow in each stare.

So slowly do they traverse on,
Emptiness and dark
Surrounds the loved one who is gone.
Death has found its mark.

The Living know the sting of death.
Life is never certain,
So cherish love with every breath
Before death drops the curtain.

Cherie. Came back to Poetrysoup to check on you and see that you have posted nothing new. I hope you have not given up on your poetry and that all is well. Let me know if you have any new works as I, for one, love your poetry. Best wishes for the new year. Janece

Thank you, Janece! I have done some small writing, but I have been dealing with some major health issues that have kept me back a bit. I will definitely get some of my newer stuff posted soon. :)

A gem of a poem. This is my style of poetry - short and to the point but the lines roll off the tongue pleasantly. Will have to check out your other work. ?? hugs dear poet. Jan

Thank you, Jan! I love the spelling of your name, BTW. You don't see that style very often. It is my middle name, with the same spelling! :) I am loving your work too!
