Outlined by moonlight, mysterious Orb spider, spinning your geometric lines, un-changed, as from the dawn of time. Around us, as life quickens-you -un-hurried-weave your web as–slowly knitting time. Second by second, secretly in spaces, you hang your timeless filaments. In daylight nature wraps you in a leaf- this ritual- unchanging as the tide Unaware by day we sweep this gossamer away When patiently re-strung-like space and time re-spun we watch you, and for a moment time stands still. 5/30/21 ~ Third Place ~ Premiere Contest: Open Poetry 5 Sponsor: Charlotte Puddifoot

So much to learn from the spiders about patience, perseverance and hard work!! What a superbly written poem Suzanne! I enjoyed reading it thrice to understand it! I also learned a new word 'gossamer'.

Dear Suzanne, your poem is exquisite. I was captivated by the amazing weave of your lush imagery. I was enthralled by the concept of the spider "slowly knitting time" and "time re-spun" - simply ingenious! Your gifted pen spills with reverent appreciation for Nature's beauty. Congratulations for your excellent win in Charlotte's contest. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Thanks so much, Line….for reminding me about this poem. When we had Jilliby Farm I was fascinated with all the spider forms around. I wrote a lot of spider poems then, and some I need to look at again and post them.here. Cheers, SuZ

proteinaceous silk adorned in silvery dew ~ arachnid artwork. They never cease to amaze me, I love to watch them in the autumn when their webs are covered in dew. Tom

Tom: Glad you enjoyed….I found out an interesting fact when I was wondering how they produced all that silk. They eat the damaged web and spin it back. That’s recycling. SuZ

Interesting, thought-provoking, excellent poem about a spider's web, Suzanne. Most people don't even take time to notice their intricacies, just sweep them away. Nice work.

Thanks, L Milton: I have noticed that most poets take the time to notice…..read Robert Frost’s ‘Design’ It’s brilliant. https://spdbv.vital-it.ch/TheMolecularLevel/WelRed/Frost01.pdf SuZ
