Unbowed
Just when you have everything under control,
When life is in order, And hope is old;
A dream is something only there in sleep,
And nothing touches the part of you that weeps;
The wall is built , the traps laid,
The armor is sure.
No new chances, no old debts to repay.
It doesn't matter what comes next, you've seen it all.
Or so you thought.
Til something catches your eye.
A glimpse of something lost,
A whisper that screams your name
In a voice you never wanted to hear,
an echo of your own heart...
Life is funny that way.
When you think you know every game that is played,
Heard every line a deceiver chooses to say,
Borne every dark minute of a night after goodbye,
Closed the door to your heart
And turned away...
You notice a light still shines,
Your heart still beats
Your breath still catches
As you remember when.
And you hear a gentle voice whisper
"You'll be fine ."
The hope of an innocent heart never gives into the fears;
Finding gold in bitter dreams,
Choosing light held in Mercy's hands
To dry yesterday's tears
Understanding...
A new road will hold the footsteps
A new voice will reveal the secret
As head unbowed and joy explodes
The next breath will come,
Love goes on.
