Unbegun

I said I want to be better, Then laid down and drifted to sleep. I swore I'd rise and do something different, But got lost in thoughts too deep. I said I want to be better, But the tears fall before I can cry. I've created rules as guidelines But broke them all when the sun wakes up I said I want to be better, But I haven’t moved from where I stand. Wishing for change with every breath, And at the same time refusing to breathe. So, if I want to be better, why can’t I just begin?

Dear Ink, (i am also an ink) hah, I absolutely love this poem, so deeply moving and resonates too especially “ I said I want to be better, But the tears fall before I can cry. I've created rules as guidelines But broke them all when the sun wakes up” i think we all do that sometimes, or have experienced that, vow to do better to find ourselves, stuck, standing where we just were! Like your ending says! I love a poem that ends with questions. And youv done that in such an evocative manner! Pleasure reading you! Welcome to Poetry Soup! Sending you light always
