I thought silence was gone forever for me; I can't even listen to crickets outside my home without that ringing that fills my ears whenever quiet is all that surrounds. Then you began to steal away your time; your calls, your voice, your sweet face looking into mine with those eyes that kill, and now I remember what silence really means. I don't understand what you're thinking; I might if you'd only tell me, only decide I was worth but a few hours, only keep our promise to each other to try. We said we deserved each other, a bit ago; the angry part of me now says we were wrong, that you don't deserve me if you never reply, and I deserve better than just a ringing phone. I then recall things about you and breathe; an image of you looking deep into me, your voice saying things I'd never heard, the feel of your lips against mine. I want to tell you all this, to hear you; to grasp where such a connection as ours could have gone awry in so short a time, but it takes two to talk. All I really want; to say, to ask, to know, is - why.
