Unable To Relate

Unable to Relate 2010 There he sits, across from me Patiently peeling two eggs Same lunch each day Two eggs in between two slices of bread with muster, yogurt, apples, pear Peculiar is he Entertaining I must say Laughter takes over Reminiscent of the past, common experiences Experiences not forgotten He tells the story Symmetry exposes two pierced nipples Words he did not expect from a female student Animated the table continues to recall the early years More laughter There I sit smiling, laughing Unable to relate A history shed through small “platicas” Unable to relate Watching the clock Time seem far away 25 minutes, a long way to go Finished with my lunch I sit and listen Unable to relate Questions begin to formulate Memories, how important are they? Memories, should the past be brought into the present, future? Laughter, I cannot relate Laughter, will I ever be this way? Aging with everything fading away No laughter my memories Home taken way by mother nature Picked on by those a like, bullied Cast away, different from you, her, they Innocence stolen by those who knew better Unable to relate Laughter, reminiscent of the early years Memories, how important are they? Laughter, I cannot relate Memories, dreams of another day Forgotten by the new day New experiences gone by dawn Hunting with caution No laughter my memories Present marked by the past Future scripted by the past No laughing matter the memories Naked from the waist down, there I lay on the fields A neighbor’s friend No explanation, blamed Unable to relate Laughter, I cannot relate No laughter my memories Body exposed to me Act reserved for adults, mine at a young age No stranger or neighbor’s friend; Cousin Laughter, memories of fun times No laughing matter the memories Memories be gone with no return 25 minutes seem a long way to go There he sits, enjoying the egg sandwich Reminiscing with friends, colleagues I sit and listen Laughter, I cannot relate
