Just the outward appearance of godliness (2 Timothy 3:1-5).
I saw dreary rain today
Awake a dormant thought,
That rain empowers growth-
Something which cannot be bought.
Watch it cleanse a sinful sky,
And wash away all fears,
Bringing with it new hope
After shedding countless tears.
Rain 'tis not so popular
With those of us today,
Who wallow in our pride,
Or buy an expedient way.
Why keep out the rain, I thought,
The everlasting power?
Umbrellas of possession
Have caused us all to cower.
And now the rain is falling,
Yet few are getting wet;
Umbrellas shield the words
Of a Son He once beget.
