Umbrella Uplifted, Full of Rain
Dipped my umbrella
Full of your vows and my fears
I skipped across the laketop
Dipped, rinsed them both out,
Had to decide if ‘I do’
I ran off from the altar
And let the sweet lake,
Friend without expectations
Cascade onto my shoulders
And wash out my hair
Wash out my fear of living
Remind me of our dreams, love
I will not be back
I, of the fey, and you, man
The forest grasses my home
I have run away
I, to return to my house
That nests among the flowers
And yet I loved you
Dreamed all our dreams in your arms
And hoped for days together
But I and others
Who whispered of sweet meadows
Called me back! Wherefore, I go!
