Notes About The Poem

Tyree Gits the Boot

Ole Tyree was a tourist from Texas
who went to a rock and roll nexus.
He yo-del-io-ed
in Sun Stu-d-io
that's how he got kicked out of Memphis.

I really like yours and once in a while, limericks are made better by NOT rhyming. that is why that one line is so great, It makes the joke of the last line. If it is in the contest, I hope roy will accept its non rhyme in that one spot as part of its humor.

well, the rhyming dictionary says Memphis, texas, & neus rhymes hon- I don't think he will like my poetic license in yo-del-io-ed/ or stu-d-io either basically it has no chance at all BUT it's an entry, I participated & I like it

You have me giggling, Deb. I'll be sure not to yo-del-lo if I go to Memphis :D. Old Tyree's picture looks a lot like Willie Nelson. Love this limerick, dear, and wish you success in the contest! Love, carolyn

Being from Texas, I can relate . . . we just don't fit in sometimes (currently in DC visiting my daughter -- it's different here!) . . . made me laugh. All the best.
